Christantus Uche Ignites Comfortable Crystal Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite entering their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Missing star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.
Another three points in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight entry to the knockout stages, particularly after a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Moment
This occasion provided a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive match.
The Shelbourne side that had finished their league season were no match even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
