The nation's leader Cyril Ramaphosa has stated that an investigation will be initiated into the unexplained appearance of a chartered plane transporting 153 Palestinians from Gaza into the territory.

Initial Access Denial

The group landed at OR Tambo International Airport but were originally denied admission and remained in the aircraft for in excess of 10 hours as they "were missing the usual departure stamps in their identification papers", government officials stated.

Most were eventually permitted to enter after intervention from a domestic humanitarian organization and because of the leadership's "empathy [and] humanity", Ramaphosa stated.

The details of their departure from Gaza and flight to the nation are still unknown.

International Background

The country has continued strong support for the Palestinian cause during the hostilities between the Hamas organization and Israel in the Gaza Strip.

Ramaphosa stated the travelers "somehow mysteriously were put on a plane that traveled through Nairobi" and flew to the nation.

"These individuals departed from the Gaza territory after securing authorization from a third country to accept them," announced an government agency that controls Gaza's entry-exit locations.

Embassy Statement

Based on the Palestinian embassy in the country, the group exited a facility in Israel and flew to the country via the Kenya's main city, "absent previous coordination or planning".

A announcement from the diplomatic mission claimed "a non-official and false organization [had] exploited the tragic living situation of our nationals in Gaza, deceived households, collected money from them, and arranged their travel in an irregular and careless fashion".

Latest Situation

Among the 153 travelers, 23 succeeded to fly on to other places, leaving 130 who were allowed into the nation, South African authorities report.

Ramaphosa, addressing during an gathering in Johannesburg, said he was informed of the developing crisis by the home affairs minister.

In reply, the head of state said "we must not turn them back", per South African reporting.

"Although they are without the required identification and records, these are people from a conflict-ridden, a violence-plagued land," he remarked.

Administrative Action

The head of state also informed reporters the country's leadership would carry out a "thorough assessment" of the situation and notify the people on "what is happening and the way this case occurred where it is", as stated by public broadcaster.

Government Representative Leon Schreiber stated that while individuals with Palestinian documents qualified for 90-day no-visa access to South Africa, the absence of exit markings, homeward journeys or housing locations in certain of the individuals' documentation resulted in the initial rejection to let them into the nation.

After it was established that the lack of this data "did not suggest that the individuals intended to apply for protection" and their lodging was established, they were permitted to enter.

"Each of the travellers are in possession of legitimate identification papers and, at present, none of them have requested protection," he stated.

Aid Response

Local humanitarian organization has said it will supply the passengers with accommodation in the territory.

Community groups in the nation have requested examinations into the conditions the Palestinian nationals had fled in Gaza and the precise path of the plane.

An individual of the Palestinians who was interviewed by South African news expressed his thankfulness to be in South Africa, portraying it as a country of "peace, laws and equity".

"We traveled from the Gaza Strip where we've encountered mortality on daily basis. We have endured a hostilities of two years and we are blessed to be in this place," said an individual who had departed with his wife and offspring.

Complaints and Demands for Action

The humanitarian organization has since called for Ramaphosa to investigate the government agency and customs service for the "disrespect they've inflicted" the Palestinians.

The foundation's leader stated this treatment included being made to stay for a long time on the tarmac at the terminal, being prevented from receiving nourishment supplied by the charity and "using all possible reasons in the book to block these passengers from exiting the aircraft".

Traditional Backing

The country has been highly critical of the Israeli defense actions in the Gaza Strip.

The state's sympathy for the Palestinian cause for an independent state dates back many years, notably the beginning of the 1990s when national hero Nelson Mandela committed backing for the Palestinian struggle.

Large in favor of Palestinian rights protests have been conducted around the country since the conflict began.

More limited supporting Israel marches and events have been conducted in the country, which contains the largest Jewish population in sub-Saharan Africa.

In last year, the national administration lodged a lawsuit against the nation with the world court, charging it of mass killing in Gaza. The Israeli government has categorically refused the South African claim, calling it "without foundation".
